Apple has unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. Here are the confirmed display, chip, camera, price and release details ahead of October availability.

Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo, the device many readers may still search for as the iPhone Fold. Announced on September 9, 2026, the iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable iPhone and is now one of the most closely watched smartphone launches of the year. Apple says iPhone Duo will open for pre-orders on October 16, with availability beginning October 23 in more than 70 countries and regions, followed by additional markets on October 30.
The iPhone Duo uses two displays designed around the same overall experience. When closed, it has a 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR display. Opened, the inner display measures 7.6 inches, giving the phone a much larger canvas for multitasking, gaming and video. Apple says the inner screen is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max display. Both panels support ProMotion, Always-On functionality and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. A nano-texture finish is designed to reduce glare and make the crease less visually prominent.
At the center of the iPhone Duo is Apple’s A20 Pro chip, paired with a custom vapor-chamber thermal system and a dual-battery architecture. Apple says the Duo can deliver up to 35% better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro. The chip is built on a 2-nanometer process and includes a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine. iOS 27 is adapted to the folding form factor, including Split View so two apps can run side by side on the inner display.

The rear system includes a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. Apple highlights several camera features that use the outer display and folding hinge, including Duo Preview for framing subjects on the outside screen and the ability to prop the phone up for hands-free capture. The main camera can record 4K video at 120 frames per second in Dolby Vision, while the foldable design also enables new FaceTime and selfie workflows.

In the United States, iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB. Storage options extend to 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. Apple lists two finishes: star white and night sky. Pre-orders start October 16, 2026, with sales beginning October 23 in the initial markets. These dates make October the key month for consumers searching for iPhone Duo availability, pricing and hands-on coverage.
