The Xiaomi 15T Pro has a stronger case on battery life than on camera consistency. In GSMArena's testing, its 5,500mAh battery returned 16 hours and 24 minutes of active use, while the new 5x telephoto produced sharp stills. The less flattering results came from the selfie camera, nighttime ultrawide shots and sustained CPU stress.
This is an analysis of GSMArena's video review, not an independent Belliste device test. All measurements cited are GSMArena's.
Design: Matte Finish and Better Water Resistance
The Xiaomi 15T Pro has a flat fiberglass back with a fine matte texture that resists fingerprints. Its reinforced aluminum frame is also matte, giving the phone a sturdy, premium feel. The large square camera island is familiar from the previous generation.
IP68 dust and water protection returns, but Xiaomi now rates the phone for submersion at depths of up to three meters. The three-meter rating applies to controlled test conditions. Meanwhile, the larger display makes this year's model less compact.
Display: 144Hz on Paper, Usually 120Hz in Use
The screen grows from 6.67 to 6.83 inches, with a high resolution, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ playback support. The review also lists 12-bit color support.
GSMArena measured 826 nits using the manual slider with sunlight mode enabled, and more than 1,400 nits in automatic brightness mode. That is an improvement over the previous model in its testing.
Although the advertised refresh rate is 144Hz, the interface generally scrolls at 120Hz and can drop to 60Hz while idle. The full 144Hz is reserved for certain supported situations, such as compatible games. Buyers should not expect every app to run at 144Hz.
Speakers, Fingerprint Reader and Storage
The stereo speakers support Dolby Atmos. GSMArena rates their loudness and sound quality highly, noting clear high frequencies and stronger-than-average bass. The under-display optical fingerprint reader works quickly and reliably, although its low placement makes it less comfortable to reach.
An infrared blaster can control compatible household devices. Storage choices are 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, using UFS 4.1. There is no microSD expansion, so selecting enough storage at purchase matters.
Software and Updates
The review unit runs Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0 and Xiaomi's AI feature set. GSMArena says the phone is slated for five major Android-version upgrades and expected to move to HyperOS 3. Those statements describe the software and support position at the time the video was recorded; they are not a claim about the version installed on every device today.
The review focuses more on performance and cameras than on daily software annoyances. It should not be treated as an extensive investigation of advertising, background-app behavior or update reliability.
Dimensity 9400+: Fast, With Thermal Limits
MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+ replaces the Dimensity 9300+ used in the previous generation. GSMArena describes its benchmark results as flagship-class, although Snapdragon 8 Elite phones lead in some tests. Demanding games run comfortably.
Sustained performance tells a more complicated story. In GSMArena's prolonged stress test, the phone became hot and CPU performance fell to around 60% of its peak. That does not mean ordinary apps run at 60% speed; it shows that maximum performance cannot be maintained indefinitely under the test's continuous load.
For everyday use and shorter gaming sessions, the chipset has ample power. Extended gaming in warm environments is the more relevant scenario for the thermal result.
Battery: 16 Hours and 24 Minutes of Active Use
The 5,500mAh battery is 10% larger than the previous model's, according to the review. GSMArena records an Active Use Score of 16 hours and 24 minutes, an excellent result in its test framework.
GSMArena's Active Use Score is a comparative test metric, not a screen-on-time guarantee. Even with that distinction, the result is one of the phone's clearest strengths.
Charging: 50% in 15 Minutes
Wired charging drops from the predecessor's 120W rating to 90W. In GSMArena's test, the Xiaomi 15T Pro charged from empty to 50% in 15 minutes and reached full charge in 36 minutes. It also supports 50W wireless charging.
Despite the lower wattage rating, the measured 36-minute full charge remains quick. Results may differ with other chargers or temperatures.
Main Camera: Strong Detail, Occasionally Flat Contrast
The rear system includes a 50MP main camera, a new 5x telephoto and a 13MP ultrawide. In daylight, GSMArena finds the main camera sharp and detailed, with wide dynamic range and dependable results indoors. Contrast can look slightly flat in some scenes.
Portraits are strong, and 2x digital crops remain close to the regular 1x images in quality, though lower contrast becomes more noticeable. The main camera also performs well in low light: automatic night processing recovers shadow detail and keeps noise low.
There is a color trade-off. Some nighttime photographs take on an orange tint, and aggressively brightened shadows can make dark scenes look less natural. Those are processing choices worth considering alongside the strong detail.
The 5x Telephoto Is the Real Camera Upgrade
The new telephoto extends optical reach from approximately 2.6x on the previous model to 5x, using an ISOCELL JN5 sensor according to the video. GSMArena praises its still photographs for sharp detail, good dynamic range and color that matches the main camera.
The lens handles portraits and challenging indoor scenes well. It also focuses at close distances, enabling macro shots that the previous telephoto could not capture in the same way. That gives the longer lens a second practical use beyond distant subjects.
Low-light zoom photos are unusually capable for the class, but bright point lights can produce conspicuous internal reflections. Night scenes with streetlamps or other isolated lights may therefore show artifacts even when detail and exposure are good.
Ultrawide and Selfies: The Weak Links
The 13MP ultrawide is serviceable in daylight. Detail and dynamic range are acceptable for the price, but the camera lacks autofocus. At night, GSMArena reports soft detail, visible noise, weak contrast and a warmer color cast.
The 32MP front camera is a bigger disappointment in the review. GSMArena criticizes its image processing, subdued colors and low contrast, and says the output appears upscaled rather than benefiting from conventional pixel binning. Buyers who take many selfies should inspect full-resolution samples before choosing this phone.
Video: Main Camera Leads, Telephoto Trails
All cameras can record 4K video, while the main camera also supports 8K recording, according to the review. GSMArena finds the main camera's daylight 4K footage detailed, sharp and colorful, with accurate-looking tones and little visible noise. Electronic stabilization handles walking footage effectively.
Telephoto video is less impressive than telephoto photography. Distant detail looks smeared in GSMArena's samples, despite the strong results from the same lens for still images. Ultrawide video is acceptable but lacks some sharpness and dynamic range.
The main camera also performs well after dark, though lifted shadows can leave nighttime clips looking flatter than expected. Anyone buying primarily for long-range video should distinguish the excellent 5x stills from the weaker telephoto footage.
Xiaomi 15T Pro vs an Older Flagship
The 15T Pro offers strong battery endurance, fast charging, powerful hardware and a genuinely useful telephoto lens. Its compromises sit in areas where an older top-end flagship may still perform better: selfie processing, ultrawide photography and some video modes.
GSMArena also cautions that the launch price can place it uncomfortably close to discounted former flagships. The value argument becomes stronger as the street price falls. A buyer comparing deals should prioritize the camera modes they actually use, not just the processor name or charging wattage.
Verdict: Buy for Endurance and 5x Photography
GSMArena's numbers make the buying case clear: 16 hours and 24 minutes in its Active Use test, a full wired charge in 36 minutes and sharp 5x telephoto photos. These are useful strengths, particularly for travelers and people who shoot distant subjects.
The compromises are concentrated in the secondary cameras and sustained performance. The ultrawide loses detail at night, selfies look flat, telephoto video is softer than telephoto stills, and CPU output drops under prolonged stress.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro is worth considering when its street price sits comfortably below older flagships. If selfies and video across multiple lenses matter more than endurance and long-range stills, compare those alternatives before deciding.
