Explore Recraft V4.1, Flash, editable SVG vectors, reusable styles, API pricing, commercial rights, and a practical design workflow.
Recraft AI is a design platform for generating raster images and editable vector graphics. Its strongest distinction is practical: a vector model can return an SVG made of paths and shapes, rather than a flat picture that only looks like vector art.
That makes it relevant to icons, illustrations, brand concepts, and marketing assets. This guide covers the current model families, API costs, licensing, and a workflow for reviewing outputs before delivery. See our Recraft tool page or visit the official website.
Recraft develops proprietary image models and provides a workspace for generation and editing. However, saying the entire platform uses only its own models is outdated: Recraft Studio also lists third-party options, including Nano Banana, FLUX, Ideogram, and GPT Image.
Separate the platform from the selected model. If you need native vector output, choose a Recraft Vector model rather than assuming every model in Studio can export equivalent editable artwork.
Recraft V4 launched on February 17, 2026, with a focus on composition, prompt accuracy, and visual design. The V4.1 update followed on May 14. Recraft describes improvements to short prompts, gradients, illustration, and photorealism.
The lineup offers several different jobs:
| Model type | Output | Useful starting point |
|---|---|---|
| V4.1 | Raster image | General visual concepts |
| V4.1 Utility | Raster image | Simpler, more restrained compositions |
| V4.1 Pro | Higher-resolution raster | Detailed final assets |
| V4.1 Vector | Editable SVG | Icons, lettering, illustrations |
| V4.1 Pro Vector | Editable SVG |
| More demanding vector work |
| V4.1 Flash | Raster image | Fast, low-cost exploration |
Flash was announced in September 2026. Recraft reports roughly 1.3-second generation in its own testing; actual latency depends on the request and service conditions. Treat that as a vendor measurement, not a speed guarantee.
For SVG, “higher resolution” is a misleading distinction. Vector paths scale without losing edge sharpness. Judge Pro Vector by the geometry and result you receive, not by treating an SVG as a larger pixel grid.
Recraft’s vector generator produces SVG artwork that can be opened in tools such as Illustrator or Figma. You can inspect shapes, adjust fills, simplify details, and fit the result into an existing design system.
A vector-style PNG still contains pixels. Native SVG gives you a different kind of deliverable, although it does not guarantee elegant paths or a finished brand identity.
Check small-size legibility, stray shapes, alignment, and color consistency before handing over the file. For logos, review originality and suitability independently; an editable export is not trademark clearance.
V4 Styles can turn one to ten reference images into a reusable style. This helps when a campaign needs related assets instead of unrelated generations.
References should express a coherent direction. If they mix conflicting palettes, textures, and compositions, the output may be harder to control. Generate a small test set before applying a style to an entire project.
Exploration Mode produces different visual directions from one prompt. Use it to compare compositions, then narrow the brief. Editing tools include erasing, background removal, inpainting, and upscaling; select the operation that fixes the actual problem rather than repeatedly regenerating everything.
The official API pricing page, checked October 8, 2026, lists:
| Model | Per-image API price |
|---|---|
| V4.1 Flash | $0.007 |
| V4.1 | $0.035 |
| V4.1 Vector | $0.08 |
| V4.1 Pro | $0.21 |
| V4.1 Pro Vector | $0.30 |
These are API rates, not Studio subscription-credit costs. Styles models and editing operations have separate prices. For example, 100 V4.1 Vector generations cost $8 at the listed rate, before other operations or applicable taxes.
Recraft’s pricing FAQ says Free-plan outputs are public and not licensed for commercial use. Paid-plan outputs include commercial rights and remain private and under your ownership after cancellation. Check the current terms for your intended use.
The developer terms explain that API access normally uses prepaid API Units, purchased separately from subscription credits. Purchased units do not expire. Budget for revisions and editing as well as the first generation.
In an October 2026 hands-on review, Quantslant reported exporting a generated logo as an SVG containing 36 paths. That is a concrete check of editable geometry.
The same review found problems with Polish characters in Polish prompts. Its examples support testing typography in the language you actually need, rather than assuming strong English lettering transfers to every alphabet.
This was a limited comparison, not a universal ranking. This guide does not claim firsthand testing or promise that your output will match those examples.
> Minimal coffee-cup icon, rounded geometric shapes, brown and cream palette, centered composition, flat fills, no shadows, no text, clear at small sizes.
Recraft deserves consideration when editable graphics and reusable styles matter. Start with a real deliverable, inspect the exported file, and account for cleanup time. The useful measure is whether the asset fits your workflow, not whether the first preview looks impressive.
Recraft generates and edits raster images and vector graphics for icons, illustrations, brand concepts, and marketing assets. Studio includes Recraft models and third-party options.
Yes. Recraft Vector models generate editable SVG artwork made of paths and shapes. Inspect the geometry and small-size legibility before delivery.
Flash is a raster model announced in September 2026 for fast, low-cost generation. Recraft's own speed measurements are not a guarantee for every request.
No. Vector paths scale without losing edge sharpness. Compare the generated geometry and detail rather than treating SVG as a pixel-resolution format.
No. Recraft's current pricing FAQ says Free-plan outputs are public and not licensed for commercial use. Paid-plan outputs include commercial rights, subject to the applicable terms.
As checked October 8, 2026, listed per-image rates are $0.007 for Flash, $0.035 for V4.1, $0.08 for Vector, $0.21 for Pro, and $0.30 for Pro Vector. Editing and other operations cost extra.
Yes. V4 Styles supports creating a reusable style from one to ten reference images. Test it across several subjects before using it for a full campaign.
No. API access normally uses separately purchased prepaid API Units. Purchased units do not expire; check current developer terms and rates before budgeting.
